Jerry “Jay” Coleman brings a lifetime of dedication and compassion to the field of behavioral health and direct support. A 1991 graduate of Phelps High School and Dotson’s Area Vocational Center, Jay earned his diploma in Auto Mechanic Technology before continuing his education at Pikeville College, where he majored in Education with a minor in Accounting.
Jay began his healthcare journey as an SRNA at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, working on the Cardiac Trauma Care floor. Over the years, he has held a wide range of roles that reflect his commitment to person-centered care. His professional experience includes serving as a Supervisor at an assisted living facility, Team Lead for Adult Day Training (ADT), House Coordinator in residential programs, and Director of ADT services. He has also worked in administration and payroll, offering essential behind-the-scenes support.
Jay has compassionately provided end-of-life care by sitting with clients in hospice and has served as a dedicated caregiver for veterans. In the behavioral health field, he has previously worked as a Person-Centered Coach (PCC), helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities thrive in community-based settings.
Jay is extensively trained in areas critical to quality care, including Direct College Support, First Aid and CPR, Dementia and Alzheimer’s care, Stroke and Heart Attack response, Seizure management, Behavioral strategies, AED use, and Bloodborne Pathogens and Burn care.
Beyond his professional life, Jay is a proud husband, father, and grandfather—affectionately known as “Pop-Pop.” He enjoys playing the piano, listening to music, traveling, cooking, and a good game of Monopoly.
Jay’s blend of clinical skill, leadership experience, and heartfelt dedication makes him a trusted and valuable part of any care team.
